About Puerto Rico

Because Puerto Rico is a territory and not a state, it is unable to participate in the U.S. presidential general election in November, and therefore doesn't send members to the Electoral College. Puerto Ricans are citizens of the United States, however, and do participate in the U.S. presidential primaries and have elections of their own, including for governor and legislature, that we will provide information about as we get closer to November.
